Local architectural planner and designer specialising in a wide range of residential extensions, conversions and renovations.

I set up Hertfordshire Architectural Design when it became apparent that a number of clients who use my Surveying Services were unable to find an architectural design service that would work with them from start to finish and was able to explain how the current building process works.

Generally, my clients are unaware of the complexities involved in the planning process and are looking for a professional to:

  • advise on the type of Planning Permission which will be required i.e. Full Planning application, a Permitted Development or maybe a Prior Notification for Larger Extensions
  • preparation of the necessary plans for the proposed design
  • submit the required Application to the local Planning Authority
  • advise on the required type of Building Regulations application (i.e. full plans or Building Notice) for submission to the Building Control Officer
  • preparation of the Building Regulations application and submission to the Building Control Officer
  • instruct and liaise with a Structural Engineer regarding any necessary calculations etc. for inclusion with the Building Regulations Application
  • advise on all Party Wall related matters together with any Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s)
  • prepare a Schedule of Works to enable the Clients to obtain accurate quotations from Building Contractors
  • be available, if required, throughout the build process to assist and advise

My business has grown steadily and I now offer, what I consider to be, a design service that meets the needs of my aspirational clients in terms of quality, reliability and cost.

Clients appreciate my individual professional service, backed up by my in-depth knowledge of the planning process, building design and knowledge of construction.

Most of all, I understand my existing Clients have appreciated my day to day involvement in their project and my ability to advise them on all related matters such as Party Wall Awards, Schedule of Works, Building Regulations and structural calculations, together with the ability to recommend suitable
Contractors and oversee the project (if required).  They know I am just a phone call away from the start of the project, through to it’s completion.

As a qualified RICS Building Surveyor, in addition to my planning and design service, I also can be instructed to undertake a full building survey of residential properties.
